Colorado Spruce (Pinus pungens)Most popular of all the spruces for ornamental use. Needle color ranges between dark green and silver blue. Grows well in heavy clay soils. Slow growing with stiff, sharp needles. Used in landscapes as specimens, dense screenings, wildlife habitat. Best grown in fertile, moist soils, but will tolerate drier conditions. Allow for plenty of sunlight. Can grow up to one foot per year. Very hardy.
