Canaan Fir (Abies balsamea phaneropis)
Ohio’s most adaptable & popular firs. Readily transplants well in wetter sites and withstands drought conditions. Can maintain vigor in soils ranging from 5.5-7.Oph. as long as nitrogen is readily available. Maintains density with light annual shearing. Attractive bluish-green soft foliage have stiff branches and purple cones. Shade tolerant. Can grow to 50 ft and 25 ft wide.
